5 amazing rooftop drinking spots in Stockholm
1) Tak Stockholm
High up above Stockholm, Tak offers fantastic views. As its name suggests (tak means roof in Swedish), this bar is located on top of the newly-renovated hotel buildings next to Brunkebergstorg in Norrmalm. Besides its great terrace, Tak has a superb Asian restaurant.
You might be hard-pressed to find this gem if you’ve never heard of it. Strömterrassen has an intimate balcony with a stunning view of the Castle, the quayside below Grand Hôtel and Skeppsholmen. To get here, you have to sneak through the Opera and take the marbled staircase up two floors. Truly a magnificent place.
3) Urban Deli 9th Floor
Stockholm doesn’t have that many roof terraces, so Urban Deli’s rooftop bar was a welcome feature in the city when it opened in 2015. Leave bustling Sveavägen behind and take the lift to the ninth floor. This bar is a green art park with sculptures and amazing views.
4) Dramaten Terrassen
The sun-drenched terrace of The Royal Dramatic Theatre attracts both Stockholmers and tourists. The terrace is open in the summertime and easy to find as you walk through the theatre’s golden entrance doors. From this frontrow spot, you have a perfect view of Stockholm’s most glamorous quarters and the glittering water of Nybroviken.
Less flashy, but more genuine, is Barrio on the top floor of Hornhuset in Hornstull. Colourful string lights are combined with concrete and patinated furniture for this charming terrace where locals enjoy snacks, sun and drinks. A truly urban view with city traffic, seventies-style buildings and a glimpse of Liljeholmsbron.
