The 5 best coffee shops
1) Johan & Nyström
In 2004 Johan & Nyström opened and since then, they have transformed Sweden as a coffee-drinking nation. With their high-quality, gently-roasted and fairtrade coffees and teas they have raised consumer awareness by organising courses and selling their products and equipment in several cafes and coffee bars. Visit their concept store!
2) Espresso Sosta Bar
Espresso Sosta Bar is a tiny coffee bar that attracts espresso enthusiasts, who order their favourite hot drink from the smartlydressed baristas behind the counter full of Italian panini, cannoli and biscotti. Here you drink your coffee (well, espresso really) quickly and straight up. The whole procedure takes just a few minutes.
3) Drop Coffee
Are you a coffee connoisseur who values quality and craftsmanship? Then head to Drop Coffee next to Mariatorget, where you will find like-minded friends who take coffee drinking very seriously. This place roasts its own organic and fair-trade coffee, serving it in a variety of ways – both cold brewed and hot.
4) Mellqvist Kaffebar
Mellqvist Kaffebar is always at the top of the list when Stockholmers are asked to rate their favourite cafes. Everyone who steps through the door of this crowded, cosy place is given the same warm welcome as the regulars. On summer days, the seats along the brick wall are the perfect spot for people-watching.
5) Kafé Orion
Kafé Orion proves that size doesn’t matter. This tiny coffee bar with green walls serves espresso-based beverages and filter coffee. They collaborate with the Gothenburg-based roastery Da Matteo and you can always buy beans too. The founder also runs Kafé Esaias, another great coffee stop, just a 10-minute walk from here.
