This independent store, which won the Czech Grand Design Shop competition of 2016, offers a wide range of publications on fine art, design, architecture, photography and poetry, with the aim of promoting the work of young artists and cultural opinion leaders. It is regularly used as an exhibition venue, e.g. during the cartoon festival Lustr.

Originally started out as a project to map contemporary art events in Prague galleries by two arty called brothers Tomáš and Petr Hrůza. Gradually ARTMAP evolved into a bookstore selling a wide range of books on design, architecture and graphic art, which also happens to have a colourful children’s section. Do not forget to pick up your own copy of the map.

The flagship store of a publishing house specialising in picture books, contemporary illustration and comic strips, including some experimental projects with very small print runs. The cosy venue is frequently transformed into a gallery, workshops for children, or a reading room for book launches. No children yet? No worries, they welcome all youthful souls.

This elegant bookstore near the National Theatre specialises in fine arts and photography. It has a small foreign language section, but many other volumes are bilingual. They also sell the works of living Czech artists, who like to drop in when they are downtown.

This secondhand store sells books, records, CDs and maps, new items arrive every day. They have a decent foreign language section on the first floor. If you prefer the smell of new books, head to the front store giving into the street.
