Aroy Aroy

Lange Steenstraat 10

0479 12 45 90

aroyaroy.be

Aroy Aroy means something like ‘njam njam’ in Thai and is the perfect name for this pop-up restaurant serving delicious Thai food with a creative twist. It’s the brainchild of two brothers, Jason and Michael Blanckaert. The former gained praise as the chef of bistro j.e.f. in Ghent and one of the ‘Flemish foodies’; the latter became a photographer and moved to Thailand, where he fell in love with the local cuisine. After Michael moved back to Belgium he and Jason took the plunge and started a Thai pop-up restaurant together. And who knows, maybe their newest location is where they'll stay.

Curiosa & co

Nederkouter 120

0468 19 27 29

www.curiosa-co.be

This cute store in the centre of Ghent sells beautiful, affordable and unique jewellery and trinkets as well as tempting house-decoration-items like vases, postcards and notebooks. The owner carefully selects earrings, bracelets, necklaces and so on that are made by young talented designers with a personal style, often with a knack for a sober feel and pure lines. The production of these pieces is limited, so whatever you buy here is unique. Nevertheless the prices are very reasonable. The nice interior of the shop, the friendly service and the lovely gift-wrapping are extra bonuses.
