The 5 most unique concept stores in Berlin
1) The Corner
Tired of Berlin’s shabby chic and in the mood to really dress up like a film star? Then this is the place you should go to. In this huge (750 m²) concept store on the very touristy but oh so beautiful Gendarmenmarkt, you’ll find international luxury fashion brands like Louboutin or Hermès but also design furniture, perfumes and jewellery. There’s also a Corner in Charlottenburg and a smaller one in Mitte.
Oukan stands for Japanese and international avant-garde fashion. Be prepared for lots of black and a little bit of white. Oukan sells fashion, design, lifestyle and interior products and is located in a beautiful old Berliner ballroom. Hip, beautiful, expensive and often unique.
3) Andreas Murkudis
Andreas Murkudis used to be the director of the design museum in Berlin. His knack for beauty and aesthetics is palpable in all of his stores. He only sells products he would love to own himself because of their exceptional design. With two stores in the Potsdamer Strasse and one in the fabulous Bikini Haus (the world’s first concept shopping mall), Murkudis is here to stay.
4) Voo Store
Hipster alert! Here are 300 m² filled with the collections of hip and upscale brands (Joseph, Acné Studios, Alexander Wang...) on the premises of a former locksmith shop in a backyard on the Oranienstrasse. The in-store coffee shop serves absolutely delicious coffee and cakes.
5) TYPE HYPE
Small is beautiful. At least here it is. TYPE HYPE offers a wonderful selection of premium designer products (cups, cushions, stationary...) all featuring the letters of the alphabet. The label stands for sustainable, handmade and local (in Berlin) manufacturing but also for metropolitan, hip and stylish designs. On top of that they serve very good coffee and breakfast from 8 am till 8 pm.
