5 shops for cool surf and coastal living in San Francisco
1) Mollusk Surf Shop
You don’t have to be a surfer to appreciate this spot. The space alone is very colorful and crafty. They stock a mix of surf boards, gear, books, films, prints, clothing and what I think are some of the coolest and comfiest tees out there. There’s also an art gallery within.

2) General Store
Beautiful handmade crafts from West Coast designers are stocked here along with vintage frocks and classic Levi’s. One of the best features of the shop is the patio out back. It features a garden and greenhouse full of cacti and succulents.

Make an appointment to see this workspace and showroom occupied by four artists and craftsman whose work embody the spirit of California living. One makes wooden surfboards, another builds furniture from locally sourced materials, a third designs stools and chairs, and the last paints signs and artwork.

4) P.F. Candle Co.
Whether it’s a sunny day on the beach, the cool coastal air, or the misty dew of trees in the mountains, they have a candle or home fragrance of that California scent. Their collection of candles, sprays, incense, hand and body wash are vegan, cruelty-free and phthalate-free.

5) General Store Home
Its sister shop is located several blocks away and this newest addition features a wider collection of ceramic dinnerware, kitchenware, decorative pieces and furnishings for the home. For the ultimate relaxed California vibe, this is your destination.
