5 renowned fashion designers in Miami
1) Julian Chang
Julian Chang brings his designs to wearable life just north of a Trina Turk boutique. Known for his beautiful tailoring and structured, contemporary, playful looks, Peruvian native Chang has been a long-time favorite for locals for both off-the-rack outfits and custom cocktail pieces.
Born in Venezuela and raised in Miami, Simonett Pereira first opened in Wynwood, then in the Design District in 2019. The shop features a mixture of her own lines and curated collections of accessories and décor. Pereira also partners with like-minded businesses to host workshops and classes.
3) Rene Ruiz
Cuban-born Rene Ruiz debuted his first shop in Coral Gables, and quickly became a name to know for quality fabrics and sophisticated gowns. Now his chic designs are housed in an atelier in an Aventura shopping center, where customers range from brides and couture collectors to men seeking sophisticated, crafted clothing.
4) Ramona Larue by Arianne
These highly original separates and dresses are a fashionable tribute to designer Arianne Brown’s mother, Mona, who taught the Coconut Grove native how to hand-paint silk. Every item begins life as actual art. Then the designs are transferred to flowing clothing, all manufactured in Miami, that sway to the tune of the body.
5) Kathe Cuervo
A team of jewelry designers devoted to minimalism, Kathe Cuervo works with copper, sterling silver, thread and beads. Many of their handwrought designs, forged in their home studio, are imbued with symbols and carry messages such as ‘Trust your intuition.’ Find in local stores such as Nomad Tribe, Green Monkey Yoga, L.Y.M. and Ziel Cycling Club.
