3) Greenery Unlimited

The only goal that owners Rebecca Bullene and Adam Besheer of Greenery Unlimited had was to bring the outdoors in. This unique tropical paradise showcases green installations and botanic design concepts, but most of all, they give New Yorkers the tools and knowledge to keep plants alive. Fully integrating plants as part of the living space, and thus increase the quality of life, is what they call ‘biophilic design’. This eclectic and global design store – run by Bed-Stuy native and interior decorator Achuziam Maha-Sanchez and her husband, Lionel Sanchez – stocks beautifully crafted African and Caribbean home goods, exquisite jewelry, funky wood coasters, Brooklyn-themed umbrella holders, Brooklyn tote bags and colorful items from North and West Africa. Former stylist-turned-business owner Lauren Snyder is the mastermind behind this beautiful artisanal home goods and gift store on Brooklyn’s Atlantic Avenue. The ultimate gift shop, it sells a curated collection of well-designed, artisanalyet- functional takes on the essential items that we use in our daily lives. Ceramics, jewelry, textiles, beauty products, books, and other unique finds are made by independent, craft-based designers and artisans – both locally and abroad. Lauren is so close with many of her designers that they consult her directly on their limited-run goods, just for her shop.
