Beach cafes in England

1) The Hidden Hut

Snack shack by day, organiser of magical beach feasts by night, The Hidden Hut is one dreamy discovery. The open-air eatery is tucked away on a secluded stretch of the Cornish coastal path between Portscatho and St Mawes. Open year round, it serves up delicious takeaway lunches (Cornish pasties, cakes, chowders, dhals and enormous salads) to be enjoyed on Porthcurnick Beach. But things get really special during the summer when The Hut puts on beach feast nights. Lucky diners (you need to secure your spot in advance) are served one spectacular themed dish to be consumed on the sand. When the tide is especially low, that means long communal tables on the beach. You bring your own plate, cutlery and booze (plus whatever you need to brave chilly or rainy Cornish evenings) and The Hidden Hut chefs provide the flavours. Previous themes have included Champagne Shells, Summer Sardines, Lobster & Chips and an epic veggie South Indian Thali feast.
