5 amazing rooftop bars in Madrid
1) Dear Hotel - Nice to meet you
On the 14th floor of the Dear hotel, this is the terrace to watch the sunset. With views of Plaza de España, Casa de Campo and all the way to the Sierra, ‘Nice to meet you’ is an amazing urban garden. The restaurant and cocktail bar are open to the public.
2) The Principal - Terraza
A cosmopolitan and elegant terrace with olive and cypress trees, white marble and forged iron tables and a stylish red fabric for their parasols. With dramatic views of Gran Vía and the Metropolis building, this is the ideal setting for either a sunset or an after-dinner drink. Good cocktails and great music to chill out to.
3) Terraza Suecia
This attic with two heights offers unparalleled views over the roofs of the capital. Its warm and super cosy interior makes you feel as if you are in an open air tropical living room: light pink sofas full of fluffy cushions and tables covered in colourful tiles with plenty of greenery. Great cocktails.
4) Salvador Bachiller
The contentious Calle Montera, which joins Gran Vía to Sol, has had a drastic upgrade in recent years. Halfway this street, you will find Salvador Bachiller’s shop, the place for bags and luggage. On the top floor, you will discover a hidden oasis with a terrace full of plants and a peaceful backdrop to enjoy an afternoon tea and sweet snack.
5) Círculo de Bellas Artes
This is the only rooftop terrace with a 360º view of Madrid. Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom and art, sits atop the building, which rises 56 metres above Alcalá Street. The restaurant and cocktail bar of Javier Muños Calero offers casual cuisine which you can enjoy under the stars.
