The 5 most unusual places to sleep in Rotterdam
Sleep under the stars in one of the most iconic spots of Rotterdam. The Euromast lookout tower has two luxurious suites, aptly named Heaven and Stars, with access to the highest balcony in town. Perfect for some romantic stargazing with a bottle of complementary champagne. Book at least three months ahead.
2) Hotel Bazar
The 27 rooms of Hotel Bazar are bright and colourfully decorated in South-American, African and Eastern themes. Rooms come with a bathroom, TV and minibar, and the top floor has a balcony with a view of bustling Witte de Withstraat. Breakfast is served in the restaurant downstairs.
Sleep on the water in a cardboard house. The sturdy and sustainable ‘wikkelboat’ is made of 24 layers of cardboard covered by a ‘raincoat’ to keep everything dry. Inside you’ll find all the luxury you need. This floating tiny house even has its own terrace and hot tub.
4) STROOM Rotterdam
This former power station in the hip Lloyd quarter does not have ordinary hotel rooms but tastefully and minimally decorated split level studios and urban lofts. One studio even comes with its own sauna. All rooms have comfy Cocomat boxspring beds. STROOM also has a restaurant and bakery.
5) De Vreemde Vogel buitenhotel
A lovely outdoor, child friendly hotel with ten very unusual places to sleep. Imagine laying down in a space shuttle, spending the night in a fire truck, or hunkering down in an elevated old timer caravan.
