The 5 best places to eat at the beach in The Hague
1) Strandpaviljoen Zuid
Located at the so-called ‘silent beach’, this is one of the most laidback beach pavilions to start or end your day. Wake up slowly with a breakfast board with Turkish bread, frittata, organic cheese, yoghurt, and fresh fruit, or watch the sun go down in the sea while enjoying a spit-roasted chicken or a stone-oven pizza.

2) De Staat
With its Adirondack chairs in the sand, this is a great place to eat while enjoying the sunset. De Staat is well known for its ‘Staatsplateau’, a large mouth-watering appetiser board (a vegetarian version is also available). On windy days, this is also a great place to spot kite surfers.

3) Naturel
Off the beaten track and ‘natural’ in every way. This relaxed beach pavilion is located at a nude beach (although au naturel eating is not permitted). It serves dishes with organic and free-range ingredients, and the interior is made of natural materials. It has many healthy and creative dishes on the menu.

4) De Kwartel
It might not be the hippest beach pavilion, but the impressive wine list with more than 150 wines makes this a unique place. A big plus: the kitchen works with organic meat and the menu has many vegetarian options.

5) Het Puntje
Head to this friendly beach pavilion if you want to escape the tourist crush of Scheveningen boulevard. It takes some effort to reach it, but you’ll be rewarded with peace and quiet and a simple but tasty meal. The small menu changes regularly, but always includes vegetarian options.
