The 5 best places to party after dark in Amsterdam
This club was formerly known as Studio 80 but reopened in late 2016 with a lighter and friendlier ambiance, renaming itself Claire. It’s conveniently located near busy Rembrandtplein and is definitely the top option around here. You can dance till your pants drop. Claire closes at 8 am on the weekend.
2) Warehouse Elementenstraat
The western dock area was the scene for many (illegal) rave parties in the nineties. The warehouse at Elementenstraat 25 was closed for years, but re-opened in spring 2014 as Warehouse Elementenstraat. The venue still has an industrial feel to it and hosts regular techno and house parties for up to 2500 revellers.
3) De School
Located in a former technical school, De School hosts top DJs from around the world in their basement. There’s also a concert venue, a gallery, a fabulous restaurant, a garden with terrace and a yoga and fitness school, so more than enough entertainment to fill the 24 hours in a day.
4) De Marktkantine
The former Marcanti building was built in the 1930s as a canteen for people working in the neighbouring market halls (which nowadays is called Food Center Amsterdam). It was subsequently converted into a theatre and a discotheque, but closed its doors in 2010. Four years later, it re-opened and now it hosts regular club evenings as well as having an American-style BBQ restaurant.
This used to be a school where dentists trained but now it’s home to one of the more innovative and original cultural platforms of Amsterdam. Located out west, Radion organises regular club nights, performances and lectures. Thanks to their 24-hour permit, nights seamlessly blend into days.
