5 shops and shopping centres where kids can spend hours
1) Hakuhinkan Toy Park
This place is the stuff that kids’ dreams are made of, selling everything from Barbie dolls to video games, on five floors. Check out the Hakuhinkan Racing Park on the fourth floor, where you can play with remote controlled cars. You may have to jostle for space with some grown-up kids though.
This popular toy store in Ueno has been here forever and sells various toys and party staples on six floors. Look out for their collectors’ items, such as soft vinyl figures from classic TV series. Open until 9.30 pm.
3) Aqua City Odaiba
Aqua City is a large ‘entertainment shopping mall’. Here you’ll find a toy shop and a 100 yen store, as well as Tokyo Leisure Land where you can take purikura and a shop where you can buy capsule toys. It also provides a place for children to nap.
4) Tokyo Character Street
In the underground shopping center in Tokyo Station. The street is lined with shops of popular characters, including Hello Kitty, Rirakkuma, and Ultraman as well as the official shops of Tokyo’s TV stations. They even have a shop where you can buy capsule toys from 100 vending machines.
5) Tokyo Dome City
A baseball stadium, amusement park, spa, restaurants, and a hotel in one location. ASOBono! is Tokyo’s largest indoor facility and a great place for kids to use their imagination while playing.
