1) The Salt Cellar

Beer in Iceland was illegal until the long-overdue year of 1989, but today, golden and refreshing pints can be found across the island. This is true even when talking of its remotest spots, of which there is no better example than The Salt Cellar on Flatey Island. As its name suggests, this minuscule pub was used for storing salt barrels for traders and fishermen since at least the early 1900s. Visitors today can enjoy a decent pint or the Flahajito, Flatey Island’s take on the classic mojito.
