Vineyards & Châteaux in The South of France for Art Lovers
1) Château Miraval
Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt acquired Château Miraval in Correns, to the north of Brignoles, in 2008. They got married six years later in the castle chapel of this 600-hectare estate but have since split up. In addition to the fine wines that are produced here on some thirty hectares and which are usually bottled in design bottles, Miraval has a number of other claims to fame. One of the previous owners, the French jazz pianist Jacques Loussier, had a recording studio built in 1977. Pink Floyd recorded some of the tracks of their album The Wall (1979) here. Many artists have since used this famous and well-equipped studio, including Sade, AC/DC, The Cranberries, Steve Winwood, The Cure, Bryan Ferry and Chris Rea. The studio is still here but no longer in use. Château Miraval is closed to the public.
