The author of Nostalgic London, Ellie Walker-Arnott was born in the city and now lives in north London with her partner Tom and their cat Ginger. She is a writer and editor, currently at Time Out London where she’s Digital Editor and editor of the magazine’s UK Escapes section. It’s a job that has introduced her to countless cool and lesser-known corners of the city and allows her to champion her home city every day.

Living in London feels like being in the middle of something really creative and exciting.

What Ellie loves most about London

Living in London feels like being in the middle of something really creative and exciting. I’m obviously a big fan of the ancient buildings and historical sites that are dotted all around the city – going out in search of more to feature in Nostalgic London was such an enjoyable experience. I also love London’s wild green spaces, little urban neighbourhoods, indie coffee shops and the fact that so many of the city’s amazing art galleries and museums are free to enter.

For Ellie, a perfect day in London would look like this

I’d start my day with coffee and brunch at The Good Egg in Stoke Newington (order the Babka French toast!).

I live near the Parkland Walk – an old abandoned railway line that is now the longest nature reserve in London – so afterwards I’d take a stroll along the trail up to Alexandra Palace

Next, I’d either visit the tropical Barbican Conservatory, head to the V&A to see an exhibition, or stay local and meet friends for drinks in Crouch End at Little Mercies bar or The Queens, a pub which used to be a Victorian gin palace.

I’d end the day in Soho eating incredible plates of pasta at Lina Stores on Greek Street.

Nostalgic London will be available in our webshop early March. Keep an eye on our social media for the exact date.
