5 hip addresses for fashion in Bruges
Ruth Niville has created a unique women’s fashion store in a beautiful 1908 corner building near the Sint-Jakobskerk. The interior was redesigned in 2015 by Ghent architect collective Urbain to create a shop on two floors that feels more like cool Amsterdam than cosy Bruges. Ruth fills the racks with her personal pick of clothes by creative designers like Sessùn, Humanoid and Momoni.
2) Twee Meisjes
This little boutique takes its name from a Flemish folk song by Flemish singer-songwriter Raymond van het Groenewoud about two girls reading fashion magazines on the beach. Owner Margriet has created a relaxed, summery mood in her shop, with each item of clothing given the name of a song.
This modest shop has been a showcase for cool Belgian fashion. Martine Goethals has stocked radical clothes by Antwerp Six designers since the late 1980s and continues to look out for young talent emerging from Belgian fashion schools. Local women come here for silk dresses, understated jackets and thick winter sweaters.
4) Gare de Robe
A friendly fashion store located in an industrial building on the edge of town. It stocks stylish, wearable clothes by French and Belgian designers, such as Nathalie Vleeschouwer, FAM and knitwear brand La Femme Garniture. The store also has a small selection of shoes, handmade jewellery and perfume.
A cool lifestyle store for men and women in the heart of Bruges with an inspiring range of streetwear, bags, sneakers and accessories. The friendly owner sells some unique lines like quirky Polish sock brand Many Mornings. He also displays graphic art by young locals.
