The 5 finest tea shops in Vienna
Theehandlung Schönbichler (they spell it like that) is a magnificent shop in Wollzeile where the rich people always used to shop specialities from all over the world. They sell black and green tea, white tea, ayurvedic and seasonal teas as well as spirits from Destillerie Freihof.
2) Demmers Teehaus
Demmers Teehaus has various shops around Vienna, but we prefer the one at Mölker Bastei because of their impressive tea selection. Try their tea sampler from different countries and choose your favourite.
3) Sir Harly’s Tea
Sir Harly’s Tea is tucked away in Raimundhof, a silent refuge near busy Mariahilfer Strasse. Their philosophy is to not stock too much, but always make sure everything is fresh. Come in the afternoon to enjoy Five O’Clock tea with pastries, sandwiches or scones with clotted cream. Very British!
4) Jäger Tee
Even window shopping is fun here. Jäger Tee is Vienna’s oldest shop (1892), specialising in tea from Asia. They have such beautiful tea pots as well as Buddhas of all kinds and sizes. Try one of their teas in their Japanese tearoom.
5) Haas & Haas
The architecture is just one of the reasons why you should visit this place. Haas & Haas is situated in an historic building opposite Stephansdom, one of the town’s landmarks. They have extended their range in recent years with teas, marmalades, chocolates and even coffee.
