5 squares in Milan

1) Piazza dei Mercanti

This medieval square takes its name from the loggia and the arcade that was once used for markets, under the Palazzo della Ragione, the former municipal offices. This is a very old place. On one of the arches, you can find the bas-relief of the ‘half-woolly sow’, the legendary creature that told the Celtic prince where to found Milan.
