The most fabulous farm-to-table restaurants
1) Michael's Genuine Food & Drink
James Beard Award-winning chef-owner Michael Schwartz brings the best of the Homestead and Redland regions to this place that started it all. Fruitful pleasures for the palate include raw oysters with orange mignonette, kale pizza with goat milk ricotta, and wood oven-roasted whole snapper with lemon and roasted fennel.
2) Charcoal Garden Bar + Grill
Named for the powerful Josper ovens that the chef uses to cook everything from the gluten-free cornbread to the heritage chicken raised in Ocala, Florida. Salads are pulled from the urban garden mere feet away. Even the exterior of this Wynwood Yard eatery is sustainable, created from recycled shipping containers.
3) Ghee Indian Kitchen
Chef-owner Niven Patel’s Ghee is a family- and-farm affair. His parents and wife work in this sophisticated eatery that highlights their Gujarat (western India) roots, and which utilizes the produce that’s grown at their Homestead home. You can’t get a more direct route to seasonal Indian cuisine.
4) 27 Restaurant & Bar
The focus at this foodie counterpart to the famous Broken Shaker is obvious: Local Catch Crudo. Paradise Farms Oyster Mushrooms. Florida Middleneck Clams. In fact, much of the produce is grown right outside in the gardens, then flavored with influences from owners Gabe Orta’s and Elad Zvi’s South American and Middle Eastern cultures.
5) Doce Provisions
Chef-owners Justin Sherrer and Lisetty LLampalla take local sources for both raw and artisanal product, fuse them together, and serve them up. And this is how we get fried chicken on a plantain waffle with pickled peppers, Redland guava and sriracha honey, among other hip, Latin-influenced delicacies.
