This formidable bookstore and the pride of Rotterdam was swallowed up by a big chain store that unfortunately went bankrupt in 2014. Due to a successful crowdfunding campaign that raised 250.000 euros, Donner was able to relocate to its current location on Coolsingel, in a former bank building. It’s again a proudly independent and
well stocked bookshop.

Boekhandel Snoek does a great job of promoting their own city. Snoek sells books by Rotterdam authors and photographers and non-fiction works on Rotterdam. Besides an extensive collection of fiction and nonfiction, Snoek also sells magazines, postcards, silk-screen prints, etchings, cd’s and dvd’s.
